Fort Collins Lead Coach - Steve Folkerts

Originally from Illinois, Steve has now resided in Colorado for 7 years after living in Phoenix for 12 years. He competed at Southern Illinois University in Cross Country and Track while getting a degree in Physical Education. After college he moved to Phoenix, where worked a few years at Runner's Den and also worked several years as a certified personal trainer. He worked at the Runners Roost Ft. Collins for 6 years and is currently working for a brewery in Loveland, his other passion craft beer! He has coached all levels from college, high school, junior high, too numerous individual runners of all abilities. Steve has 29 years of running experience.
Running highlights include winning the 2011 Colorado Marathon at 38 years of age in 2:29:30, 2010 Horsetooth Half Marathon Winner, 2010 Colorado Half Marathon Winner, 2009 Colorado Marathon Runner Up. He also competed in the Master Marathon Championships a few years back at the Twin Cities Marathon where he placed 11th overall masters in 2:30:30. He has raced internationally in Japan, Spain and India. He loves to mix up the racing as he also holds the course record at the Blue Sky Trail Marathon in Ft. Collins and ran Imogene Pass Run last year. He's not really sure how competitive his future will be as he has cranked down his training these days but looks forward to passing along his experience, knowledge and motivation to help others achieve their goals!
Steve believes that the only way to improve at running is to get out and run and work hard. But in order to do that you have to have fun and stay healthy first!!

Megan Folkerts

Megan fell in love with running about a decade ago.  A few 5Ks lead to some 10Ks which lead to many half marathons and eventually 5 full marathons.  One of her biggest running accomplishments was running a Boston Marathon qualifying time.

Megan was an assistant cross country coach at Fort Collins High School for 3 seasons where the team won several state titles!  She currently works part-time at the Runners Roost and likes helping people enjoy all of the benefits that running has to offer.  She believes that with hard work, determination and team camaraderie, one can accomplish their goals.

Megan lives in Fort Collins with her husband (lead coach, Steve Folkerts) and their dog, Ned.  They enjoy camping and traveling for races together.  She credits Steve with helping foster her love for running and for coaching her through many of her races.  Her next goal is to check off a bucket list item- running the Chicago marathon in her hometown!

Lisa Roehm-Gensel

Lisa started running at the age of forty, after the birth of her second child. She trained for her first marathon in 2008, at the age of forty-one. Since that time, she has completed a total of ten marathons (including the Boston Marathon twice) and one ultra-marathon. She has run well over twenty half marathons and numerous other distances.

Lisa is certified in pre- and post-natal fitness and is an RRCA certified running coach. Lisa believes in long term running. Tomorrow’s (and next year’s) runs are even more important than today’s. She focuses on keeping runners healthy and loving their running. She finds joy in running and helps those around her find the same joy.

Lisa lives with her husband and two children in Fort Collins. They moved to Colorado two years ago from Southern California. They have embraced the Colorado lifestyle by hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, skiing and camping as a family.
